The average temperature ranges between 77°F (25°C) and 86°F (30°C), with the warmest months being June through September. The rainy season lasts from October to January, with the heaviest rainfall typically in November and December. However, even during the rainy season, there are plenty of sunny days with intermittent rain showers. The dry season runs from February to May, with sunny and warm weather. Overall, Roatán enjoys warm and pleasant weather year-round, making it a great destination for outdoor activities and relaxation.

For those looking for a more social experience, the community of West Bay hosts over 1 million visitors annually, and is a popular stop for cruise lines. Roatán’s population is largely bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish.

Is Roatán safe?

Roatán is generally safe for visitors and is notably safer than mainland Honduras and other areas of Central America. The island hosts more than 1 million visitors annually from North America, Europe, and around the world. However, as with any destination, it is always advisable to take basic safety precautions such as keeping an eye on your belongings and not wandering alone in unfamiliar areas at night. Petty crime such as pickpocketing and theft can occur, but violent crime is relatively rare on the island. Additionally, Próspera has implemented advanced security measures to ensure the safety of its residents and visitors, including surveillance systems, gated access, and private security personnel.

What are the entry requirements for Honduras?

How can I get to Roatán?

Direct flights to Roatán are available from major cities like Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto, and more. Airlines such as American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and AirCanada operate regular flights to Roatán. Once you arrive at Roatan’s Juan Manuel Galvez International Airport (RTB), you can easily make your way to Próspera by car or taxi. The drive from the airport to Próspera takes about 15 minutes. Depending on where you are traveling from, it may be advantageous to book flights separately from your city to an airport with a direct flight to Roatan, like Miami, Houston, Atlanta, Denver, Madrid, San Pedro Sula, Palmerola or Tegucigalpa, and then book your flight to Roatan separately.
